Emmaus Church is a Bible-Knowledge Center. We believe that the only hope for individuals, families, communities, our nation and our world is to live and follow the Word of God. We affirm the following Biblical truths:

I. God is the Creator of All Things.
We believe there is one God who created, preserves and reigns supreme in all the universe. God has revealed Himself in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

A. God the Father is holy, sovereign, eternal, unchanging. He is perfect in wisdom, justice, goodness and truth.

B. Jesus the Son is both God and man in one person. Through the incarnation He became our mediator to reconcile us to God by His blood on the cross.

C. The Holy Spirit is God, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit regenerates, seals, sanctifies, empowers and bestows spiritual gifts upon every believer.

II. The Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant and trustworthy Word. It is the final authority for faith and conduct.

III. You and I were created in the Image of God but fell into sin and death through disobedience.

1. Physical death
2. Spiritual death (We are lost and unable to work out a righteousness acceptable to God.)
3. Eternal death (Separation from God and all that is good.)

IV. Redemption Through Christ.
We believe that God provided a way of escape for sinful man by sending His Son to be the Savior of the world. In Christ, God became man, suffered and died for our salvation, was buried and on the third day rose again. The grace of Jesus Christ is proclaimed to us through the Gospel, so that all who believe in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

V. God, in grace, reaches out to sinful man to draw him to salvation. God’s gift of salvation may be accepted or rejected as man exercises his free will. Those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved.

VI. Faith in Christ is necessary for salvation. Having been forgiven, the believer does not live to follow the lusts of the flesh, but yields and surrenders his life to the Lord Jesus Christ.

VII. The Human Race is evil by nature. To enter into the Kingdom of God, a person must be born again. Through this new birth, the Holy Spirit enables us to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.

VIII. Justification Through Faith in Christ, not by works of righteousness which we have done.

IX. The Church is a living union between the Lord Jesus Christ and all those who have accepted Him through personal faith. The Church is called to be a witness in all the world to Christ and His saving grace by teaching, baptizing and making disciples. The Lord Jesus has established two ordinances for His Church:
1. Baptism is a symbol of the believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
2. Lord’s Supper is designed to commemorate the death of Christ until He comes.

X. Church membership and leadership that is saved, sanctified, and Spirit-led.

XI. The Resurrection of the Dead. There will be a resurrection to life for those who believe in Christ and a resurrection to judgment for those who reject Christ.
XII. Judgment is necessary for God to be vindicated, righteousness rewarded, and evil exposed. We believe that the believer’s judgment for sin is found at the cross.
XIII. God instituted marriage when He presented Eve to Adam and ordained that there be but one man and one woman in marriage until separated by death. We believe that divorce is outside God’s will as expressed in the words, “What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate” (Mt. 19:6). We also believe that sexual intimacy is a wonderful gift of God that is only to be expressed between a man and a woman within the love and bonds of marriage.
